Politicizing the Health of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN): A Disrespectful and Evil Act

Image
The political landscape in Nigeria has been riddled with lots of controversies and intrigues, and the recent events in Ondo State have once again highlighted the depths to which politicians can go to gain an advantage over their opponents. The health of Governor Akeredolu has become a subject of political discussions, which is a disrespectful and evil act that we must all condemn. Governor Akeredolu has done so much for Ondo State since he assumed office in 2017. His administration has made significant strides in the areas of infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and security. He has also initiated several programs aimed at improving the lives of the people of Ondo State. Despite his achievements, some politicians have chosen to use his health as a political tool to cause a rift between him and his deputy. It is disheartening to see politicians use the health of a sitting governor for political gains. Governor Akeredolu deserves our respect, and his health should not be a ...

Unlocking Economic Prosperity: The Synergy of Ondo Deep Sea Port, Ekiti Knowledge Zone, and Ekiti International Agro Cargo Airport

Image
Ondo State and Ekiti State, both located in southwestern Nigeria, share a close political and economic relationship. Historically, Ekiti State was carved out of the old Ondo State in 1996, leading to the establishment of two separate state governments with distinct administrative structures. The political and economic relationship between Ondo State and Ekiti State in Nigeria has been characterized by mutual benefit and collaboration. Ekiti indigenes in Ondo State have made positive contributions to the state's economy, cultural diversity, and community development. Their active participation and involvement have strengthened the bond between the two states, fostering growth and prosperity for the southwest region. The approval of the Ondo Deep Sea Port, the development of the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ), and the establishment of the Ekiti International Agro Cargo Airport mark significant milestones in the economic transformation of Southwest Nigeria. These projects, driven by the v...

Ondo Deep Sea Port Approval: An Augury of Quantum Leap in Ondo State Development

Image
Yesterday, 17th of May 2023, we received the cheery news of Ondo deep sea port approval by the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. The memo which contains the approval for the operating licence for the port was presented yesterday and this came after myriads of efforts from different quarters aimed at making the establishment of the sea port materialize . As an association which mission and vision revolve around the development of Ondo south senatorial district, we have, at different fora, amplified and lent voice to the agitations for the establishment of deep sea port in the coastal area of the district. Consequent on this, it is a thrill that there is FG approval to that effect. OSAWA appreciates Ondo State Government led by Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON for making unrelenting efforts at making this come into fruition. The association also thanks the Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye who ha...

Ondo 2024: Wale Akinterinwa and His Matchless Leadership Qualities

Image
In our bid to elect the next Ondo state number one helmsman, it is foremost to make the collective decision in tune with the good qualities the aspirant possesses. Mr. Wale Akinterinwa is a personality whose many leadership qualities are unmatched and first-rate. Without any iota of doubts, Wale Akinterinwa is faithful as he, overtime, fulfilled every obligation he ever undertook. His words have always been his bonds and everyone who has had cause to cross path with him attests to this. He is a man who has shown mastery from his education, career and offices held with awe-inspiring performances. One who is loyal and steadfastly maintains ties with his principal and subordinates. Mr. Akinterinwa loves good jokes, yet, his sense of humor is never mean-spirited nor designed to malign or humiliate, rather tilted towards lifting spirits, with ever cheerful disposition that endears him to all and sundry. He is a man whose public personality is in tandem with his real personality without any ...

Obidients’ post-truth fantasies

Image
If there is anything that the camp of Obidients in their curated world of alternative reality has achieved somewhat, it is how their inelegantly constructed universe of a ‘stolen presidency’ has continued to hold the imagination of their deluded members.   Even when the raw facts tell a different story, it seems to me a measure of their relative success that their narratives of ‘flawed’ election have remained the talking point in a segment of the mainstream media and among their allies.  That what I observed on this page last week, as a deliberate mischaracterisation of the February/March polls has gone unchallenged for so long, has remained a mystery! Now, they appear unstoppable. They have largely succeded in drowning alternative voices, attacking just about everyone and every institution in sight. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, they have attacked for being an unworthy electoral body, with its chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, cast in the most unflattering robe...

Competitiveness, credibility of 2023 polls

Image
It would appear from all indications that one of the key participants in Nigeria’s 2023 presidential elections, the Labour Party (LP), and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, had a clear-cut and straightforward agenda to dictate the dominant narrative on the polls before and after the exercise.  Before the elections, a number of sponsored and obviously flawed opinion polls had predicted an outright victory for Obi on February 25. In a worst-case scenario, they projected that the election would head for a run-off with Obi being one of the candidates that would qualify to participate in the supplementary poll.  Although many influential foreign media houses apparently accorded utmost seriousness to these polls, their empirical basis was largely entirely unreliable as succinctly explained by renowned senior lawyer and Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay, in a recent interview on Channels Television. For one, the ...

The undesirability and illegality of interim government

Image
By: Robert Obioha  The 2023 general election, especially the February 25 presidential poll, has attracted much attention and generated more heat and controversy than the March 18 exercise for obvious reasons.  The February 25 poll was a keen and close race between three main political gladiators with an army of cult supporters who strongly believe that their candidate must win the election. They are Bola Tinubu of APC, Atiku Abubakar of PDP and Peter Obi of LP.  However, the 4th contender in the poll is the former governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). In a close race like this where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 12 states, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 12 states and the Labour Party (LP) won 11 states plus the Federal Capital Territory which makes its win to be 12 states, and NNPP won only one state, there is bound to be disputations over the election results. Disputation of election result has become pa...

Abominable and polluted minds ravage than corrupt politicians

The current economic and political state of Nigeria is worrisome and stripped us of every possible  hope of the future development, Nigerians with all tendencies have lost hope in all our Leaders at all levels.  Rhetorically, I had asked myself questions of what could have been wrong with some of them who are stoned hearted and lack compassion for the suffering masses. Do we really have good Leaders in Nigeria? Are they all corrupt? Moving forward, it is important to understand the word of God in the Bible that says "Either make the tree good and his fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and his fruit corrupt, for the tree is known by his fruit" I want to believe there might be a statement like this in the Holy Qur'an as well.  It becomes like a mirage when we expect good leadership from people with abominable and polluted mind. Our predicament is not from the few that became corrupt through political inducement but those who became polluted through unnatural affectio...

Ondo South: Jimoh Ibrahim's Endorsement by Olugbo represents victory

Image
By Kehinde Ayochris Nobody in a town can genuinely love a town than the traditional ruler who knows that his reign in the town expires with his own soul in the land . It is no more news that Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom and all monarchs in Ikale nations endorsed the APC candidate, Ondo South Senatorial district, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim OFR, CFR as the only candidate that remains undoubtedly competent with high  intellectual Quotient, leadership skills and unflappable academic inclination to deliver quality representation in Ondo South. It is clear that no candidate is wealthy enough to induce monarch's for endorsement especially, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Fredrick , the Olugbo of Ugbo who is the richest king in Nigeria and the second richest king in the whole fifty two countries in the continent of Africa. There is an adage that says " mystery that can't be revealed to a child upon the projection  of his neck, it is in the pocket of an elder". Our monarchs know that we are in a cr...

No Hope of Schooling for Children Displaced by Terrorism in Northern Nigeria

Image
By Emmanuel Audu  Walking shoulder to shoulder along the popular Oja-Oba road in Akure, a city in South West Nigeria, Ibrahim Saheed,8, and his younger brother, Audu Saheed,6, go in search of other destitute children until their parents, whom they left since morning, return. For the Saheed family, the day is monotonous; they arrive at a spot in Oja-Oba road in the morning, disperse to different locations to beg for money and come back to Oja-Oba road later in the evening. Ibrahim and Audu have dreams; Ibrahim wants to be a lawyer while his brother, Audu hopes to be a journalist. In their hometown, Machi in Katsina State, before moving to Akure, they were enrolled in Dauedelu Primary School. However, Audu was forced to drop out of school in class 3 while Ibrahim dropped out in class 2. They told this reporter they had to leave school because their uniforms were worn-out, and their parents could not afford basic learning materials including exercise books.  There was still hope ...

12 YEARS OF INTERREGNUM AND VOID IN ONDO NORTH.

Image
This is Ikakumo Cashew processing Industry which Senator Boroffice handlers are making a lot of noise about as forming part of his achievement in 12 years.  As the DG in 2019, we held meetings with the good people of Isowopo 2 in Akoko NE and promised them that the factory will be inaugurated within one year of swearing in for 3rd term and 200 people will get both direct and indirect employment, it was on that basis that the people voted us enmass.  Prince George Niyi of blessed memory who was the Leader and President of Isowopo Assembly was on this issue until he died. He called our Senator more than 100 times without his number being picked by our Senator and each of the time, the man will also call me.  I went to the Senator and reminded him about the promise but he choose to ignore me and later totally blank me out saying I am disturbing him about his promises. At a time, Prince George Niyi before he died called  to warned me to stay away from the Senator as he m...

Senate 2023: What Alex Ajipe represent

Image
When it comes to effective representation and adequate leadership which are necessary factors in ensuring and facilitating a progressive socio-political system and as well the holistic advancement of our community, the qualities which the electorates should be looking forward to seeing and assessing when politicians come to them to seek their mandates are clear, simple and straight. Alex Ajipe, CEO of KlickKonnect comes to the fore of the nation’s political settings with the much-needed qualities to bring about a true representation for the people. More than ever when the sons and daughters of Ondo North Senatorial district needs a savior, a true and progressive candidate who not only has the charisma to woo the people, but also the willpower and readiness to walk the talk and do the needful to bring the much-needed dividends of a good democratic setting. For a senatorial district that over the decades has missed out on many viable opportunities to push for the advancement of its peopl...

LAW AND THE EVIL OF LAWYERS

Image
This may sound a bit controversial, but I've not seen a profession which promotes evil in the open like the legal profession. With the wig on, lawyers stand before the judge in defence of evil doers and plotters with a mandate of seeking their acquittal, using superior cunning arguments by looking for loopholes in the legal system and twisting the law for the the sole purpose of earning monetary reward from their clients. This can obviously, be attributed to their training. I presumed that one of the training would-be lawyers receive in the law school before being called to bar is how to tacitly playdown on their inherent personal conscience. This is what leaves me pondering over the degree of good conscience left in the legal practitioners. Don't get it twisted, a lot of morally sound lawyers are equally in the Profession across different chambers within the country. Unfortunately, close discerning will reveal how the Profession thrive best in deceit and feasting on the miscal...

Ondo North Senatorial District 2023 : Zoning or Merit, Negotiating the will of the People

Image
The place of merit and the will of the people which is the bane of our socio-democratic system in Nigeria has over the years been negotiated and undermined by various factors, sentiments, god-fatherism, zoning and all sort of political arrangements are some of these nefarious factors which has greatly marred the shape of the nation’s socio-political set-up. The year 2023 is another highly significant year in the history and survival of the nation Nigeria as many important posts will be once again up for grasp and many politicians will be gunning for the various available top-prizes.  For the people of Ondo North Senatorial district, the battle for the next general elections has just begun, the region is currently considered a strong foothold for the All Progressive Congress [APC], this been made evident with the result of the last election in the state.  Presently, the senatorial seat is being occupied by none other than Senator Ajayi Boroffice, one who is regarded as the long...

IMPENDING ASUU STRIKE: ONE TOO MANY

Image
Reading the impression and expression written on the faces of Students across Nigerian Universities, studying different courses, especially in Bayero University, Kano on Friday 4th February, 2022, it was an obvious disposition of uncertainty. Apprehension littered the humid air. In small groups, Students conversed among themselves on a similar topic. "Are we really embarking on another ASUU strike?" was the the most frequently asked questions on campus as the first week of the second month in the new year gradually winds down. All across most Universities in Nigeria, the Academic Staff Union Of University popularly referred to as ASUU in the labour industry, met at an emergency Congress meeting on Thursday 3rd February, 2022 at the various branch levels. The discussion and deliberation centered on the report of Memorandum of Action (MoA) signed between the Federal government of Nigeria and the Union (FNG/ASUU) and the level of implementation thus far.  The major issues in the...
