Th new executive officers that will pilot the affairs of Ondo Ekimogun Youths Congress (OEYC), in the next four years have been elected by the youth of the town
The election which was conducted in line with the covid-19 protocols as stipulated by the government was monitored by the men of Nigerian Army, Police, officials of the Department State Security Services (DSS) men of the Ondo State Security Corps (Amatekun) among others.
Announcing the result amidst tight security, the chairman of the electoral committee organised for the exercise, Mr. Omolayo Omotayo, declared Lucas Famakinwa as the winner of the election after polled 65 out the total 80 votes cast to defeat Adewale Omotayo, who polled 11votes in the election.
Others who were elected into various positions are, Florence Obafemi, Vice-president, Alex Olubusade, General Secretary, Blessing Akinyamoju, Assistant General Secretary, Bisoye Akinmolaju, Treasurer, Tolu Abubakar, Financial Secretary, while Kayode Olamigoke was elected as the Public Relation Officer.
Others are, Akinlolu Akinpelumi, Social Director, while Tope Olabanji and Akinduro Michael was elected as Sport Director and Auditor respectively.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after he emerged victorious and declared winner of the election, the newly elected president of the OEYC, Lucas Famakinwa, described the election as another landmark achievements in the history of the association since it was inaugurated in the area in few years back.
Famakinwa, while appreciating members of the Electoral Committee set up to conduct the exercise, members of the Osemawe in council as well as Landlords Associations in the community, leaders of the association as well as security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
He promised to do everything within his capacity to move the association to greater heights and initiate more programmes that would have direct impacts in the lives of his members.
On the forthcoming election, he promised that his members would always ensure that peace continue to prevail in the town and ensure that his members would not be use as agent of distraction by any groups or politicians.
He however solicited for the supports and more cooperation from all members, especially his major challenger during the election, saying such support would go a long way in ensuring that peace, progress and development in which the youths in the town are knowing for is achieved.
Similarly, the immediate past President of the association, Mr. Eric Famogun, described the peaceful conduct of the election as another landmark achievements in the history of the association, he commended members of the youths for what he described as the level of maturity and decorum during the conduct of the exercise.
He charged the new executive members to run a transparent administration and allow every members to contribute to the development of Ondo town.
Performing the swerin in and presentation of certificate to the newly elected officers, the legal adviser to the association, Barr. Folorunsho Kolawole, urged them to initiate more developments to the town as well as repositioning the association for efficiency and better service delivery among others.
