A former lawmaker representing Akoko south west/south east Federal consistency, Hon kolawole Babatunde, has congratulated Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on his second term re-election in Ondo state.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Randolph Daodu, today, stated that Akeredolu's victory is well deserved.
The statement reads partly, "Sir, your victory in the just concluded Governorship Election is an affirmation of the confidence the good people of Ondo State repose in you"
"While we wish you a more eventful and crisis-free second term in office we hereby reaffirm our unalloyed and continued support towards the success of your administration"
"I also appreciate the magnanimous residents of Akoko south east local government area for throwing their weight behind the administration of Akeredolu, in the same vein, I also thank the good people of the Ondo state for deeming it fit to vote our 'talk and do' Governor"
Akeredolu, popularly known as Aketi, won the election by polling 292,830 to beat his closest rival and candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, who recorded 195,791 votes, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Akure, Sunday.
Coming third in the contest is the flagbearer of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, with 69,127 votes.
The lawmaker who doubles as special adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development, commended the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC), for conducting freest and credible election without a modicum of violence.
"We wish to also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the freest, fairest and most credible election in recent term and the security operatives for the neutrality they displayed throughout the voting process"
He, however, urged other candidates who participated in the election to be resilience and garner support for Akeredolu to ensure an inclusive administration.
"We, therefore, urge all the other candidates who lost at the poll to be gallant in defeat and we solicit their co-operation with you in moving the state forward", kolawole said
