Team up to develop the country, Ondo State coord tells corps members






The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has challenged the corps members to leverage on the establishment of the Scheme to team up with their colleagues and develop the country.

The State Coordinator threw this challenge Sunday evening when she briefed the 2022 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) prospective corps members deployed to Ondo State for the mandatory one year service to the nation.

Mrs. Ani said that the illustrious Nigerians who are privileged to be mobilised to serve the nation under the NYSC Scheme should endeavour to display high sense of discipline which is the prerequisite for youths and younger generations of contribute meaningfully and constructively to nation building.

"My dear children, you need to crawl before you work and do away with all the insatiable thirst for immediate wealth but to seek knowledge that will transform the economy because the principal essence of the establishment of the NYSC Scheme is for you to contribute to national growth and development".

"The education you acquired through your various institutions of higher learning should be a propelling force for you to promote unity and oneness through this Scheme and anyone thinking of acquiring wealth through dubious means apart from honest ways would not fit into the system the NYSC is promoting".

The Coordinator reminded the prospective corps members that the mantra in NYSC is discipline and admonished them to display such during the orientation course and throughout the service year.

She disclosed that NYSC has enriched orientation course content that will assist them to discover their potentials and encouraged them to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme established ten years ago.

"The white collar job or paid employment is no longer in abundance as it used to be but I want to announce to you that there is a paradigm shift and what you can do with your hands and brain will certainly take you to stardom and the way to go is SAED and you have just witnessed the sensitisation of the programme that will change your life for better".

The Coordinator in the course of the briefing exercise unveiled the three Corps Camp Directors that will serve as intermediary between the management and the corps members, and charged them to represent their colleagues very well and not to see their selection as a means to run parallel administration in the camp.

The three Corps Camp Directors are Abubakar A. Abubakar, OD/22A/0013; Ezenma Victor Samuel, OD/22A/0511 and Rafiu Mojeed Adebayo, OD/22A/0358.

The NYSC Ondo State boss during the inauguration of Camp Court Committee charged them to discharge their statutory duty with sense of responsibility and without fear or favour.

The briefing exercise also witnessed the investiture of COVID -19 Vanguards and are saddled with enforcing the non pharmaceutical protocols of Coronavirus pandemic within the camp community.


During the decoration of the Vanguard, the State Coordinator charged them to see their assignment as a sacrifice which must be handled with  zeal and vigour. 

"Some of your colleagues will want to turn deaf ears to this directive but correct them in love and if they still insist on not doing the right thing, report to the Head, COVID -19 Committee who will take the matter up and appropriate measures taken against such.

"Your life is important to us and that is the main reason why we are encouraging you to observe the non pharmaceutical protocols as directed by the Presidential Steering Committee and National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)" she concluded.


The State Coordinator appealed to the   corps members to take all the camp programme and activities seriously as they are designed to achieve a common goal.
