The Polytechnic Ibadan 13th Inaugural Lecture: Dr Yusuf gives solution to tackle unemployment




"The need to reduce unemployment through the application of vocational skills, and technology driven agriculture formed the bases of the 13th inaugural lecture of the Polytechnic, Ibadan.

A guest lecturer, Kamorudeen Yusuff made this assertion at the 13th inaugural  lecture of the Polytechnic, ibadan on the topic, "Graduate unemployment crisis in Nigeria: vocational training and agrotechnopreneurship as strategic bail out". 

Dr Yusuf said about 200,000 graduates were unemployed yearly;hence the need for alternative job provision in the country.

"Vocational educational, agricultural practices coupled with technology remained the best option in tackling unemployment among graduates in the country.

"I have in no small way contributed towards the reduction in graduate unemployment through the establishment of vocational centres


He noted that he also provided working tools to  engage the unemployed youths, adding that the Oyo State government has also established various agribusiness projects in the state. 

He however urged the government at all levels to encourage modular oil refineries in the country to end reliance on fuel importation and sophisticated refineries that were had to maintain.
