There was a palpable apprehension as an annual Inter-House Sports which started with joy, ended in a bloodshed in Ondo
The unfortunate incident, according to reports, happened on Thursday evening at Agolo High School, Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North East Local government area of Ondo state
Report says, the annual fiesta was well attended by secondary school students from various parts of Akokoland, many old students of the citadel of knowledge.
According to an eyewitness, “Suddenly gunshots were heard which led to immediate death of a student while two others were seriously wouded now receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.
“After the unfortunate incident there was panic and apprehension in Ikare Akoko as parents were running helter skelter to check their wards safety.
Efforts to speak with either the principal of the school or the games master to know what led to the incident, proved abortive as at the time of this report.
The Divisional Police Officer in Ikare Akoko, SP Olatujoye Akinwande confirmed the incident, saying the dead student has been deposited at a mortuary while the those sustained injuries are receiving treatment.
