Court acquits Momoh over money laundering allegations

A Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged and acquitted Mrs. Ochuko Momoh, the Chief Executive Officer of Blaid Construction and wife of a former Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, Haruna Momoh on money laundering related charges.

In a judgment on Thursday, Justice Taiwo Taiwo held that the prosecution failed to discharge the burden of proving its case against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Taiwo, who also ordered the discharge of an earlier interim forfeiture order made against Mrs. Momoh and her two firms; Blaid Construction and Blaid Farms noted that the case of the ICPC was based on mere speculation and conjecture.

The judgement is the 12th of its form that has exonerated Mrs Momoh of the various financial charges levied against her by the Commission since 2019.

It should be noted that she has gotten judgement in her favour back to back for 7 years of the trials and the last charge in 2019 was a criminal charge with 22 counts charges.

This final judgment was hailed by over sixty lawyers and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SANs) present in the court for different cases and trials.
