The Orientation course has been described as a period and opportunity for self actualization when corps members realize their potentials and attain individual feats during and after service.
The assertion was made by the NYSC Director General, BrigadierGeneral Muhammad Kaku Fadah during the Swearing-In Ceremony of corps members held at the Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin, Oyo State.
Addressing the new entrants, the DG represented by the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe felicitated with the young graduates for being qualified for mobilisation to perform the national assignment while urging them to utilize the once in a life time opportunity to actively participate in all camp activities, integrate with one another despite their diverse cultural / religious backgrounds.
"Such opportunity according to him would help them rediscover their innate talents and build their human capacity. Stating that the course contents have been designed to achieve the purpose.
"A particular reference is the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program where they are expected to choose from any of the skill areas to be trained on thus empowering them during and after their service year.
He equally informed them that the Oath of Allegiance which they swore into before the Chief Judge of Oyo State Hon.Justice Muktar Abimbola ably represented by Honourable Justice lyabo Yerima, is binding as it is expected to guide their conduct during the service year.
"To this effect, he compelled the PCMs to sustain a high level of discipline to all camp rules and regulations , ensure that they use the social media to promote national unity and development.
The NYSC boss also appealed for the support of all stakeholders in the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund that will help in providing start up capital for corps members and enhance infrastructure and the smooth operation of the scheme.
Newsline NG however observed that, a total number of 1,589 Prospective Corps members comprising of 1,101 females and 488 males deployed to Oyo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos State comprising of 309 males and 391 females.
The colorful ceremony had in attendance all Heads of Assignments, Collaborating agencies and course participants.
