The Director General National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Mohammad Kaku Fadah has called on corps members to work harmoniously with the people from other cultures for the realization of a greater Nigeria.
He enjoined them to see one another as brothers and sisters and there should be no discrimination whatsoever.
He added that the unity of Nigeria is non negotiable and they should use every platform available to promote it.
The NYSC helmsman gave this charge at the Official Swearing-In Ceremony of Prospective Corps members for the 2022 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin, Oyo State.
The Director-General,who expressed his gratitude to government at all levels, Security Agencies, Corps Employers and other stakeholders for their support in the areas of security and welfare of Corps members enjoined the corps members to reciprocate the kind gesture by putting in their best at their places of primary assignment.
He stressed that they have been mobilized as stakeholders in nation building to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
He further advised the corps members to seize the opportunity of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme of the NYSC right from the camp to acquire skills and be self employed as the white collar jobs are not readily available,
He assured that the Management will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to provide start up capital for those who have fully empowered themselves with a skill under the SAED laudable initiative program.
The NYSC Boss declared to the newly Sworn-In Corps members that the Oath of Allegiance admistered on them is symbolic and binding which requires them to work harmoniously with people from other cultures for a greater and prosperous Nigeria.
He equally implored the Corps members to demonstrate high level of discipline, shun social vices and avoid negative use of the social media but deploy same for the promotion of national unity and development which is one of the objectives of the NYSC.
The Director-General was represented by the State Coordinator,NYSC Oyo State,Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe who presided over the ceremony and delivered the address of the DG.
Newsline NG learnt that a total number of 1,460 comprising of 518 male and 942 female administered their oath of allegiance
The administration was performed by the Chief Judge of Oyo State,Hon.Justice Abimbola Mukthar ably represented by Hon.Justice Iyabo Yerima.
The highlight of the program was the sample signing of Oath forms by the corps members.
