Rugipo holds 30th Matriculation ceremony in grandstyle

..... Rector, Dr Ogundahunsi urges New students to shun social vices_

The Rector of the Ondo State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Dr Gani Adebola Ogundahunsi has warned newly matriculated students that the institution will not tolerate any act that can compromise its known high standards.

The Rector gave the warning on Friday 19th May, 2023, during the 30th edition of the 2022/2023 Matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic.

He stated in his opening address that “there is a standard that every student must attain immediately he/she registers and once a student cannot meet up with the standard, the polytechnic will show him/her the way out of the system.”

Ogundahunsi, however urged the new students to protect their rights, privileges and freedom and must also ensure that they do not trample on the rights, privileges and freedom of others.

The Rector also encouraged them to face their studies squarely so as not to lose the golden opportunity of acquiring purpose of seeking admission into the institution, “work hard, be disciplined, be focused, show respect to their colleagues and staff in the institution to make their stay fruitful and productive.

“Shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractices, sexual misbehaviour, fraudulent acts and any anti social behavior that could mar your future,” he said.

Ogundahunsi, however, assured the matriculated students of adequate security on campus, urging them not to hesitate to report any suspicious activities to the Dean Of Student Affairs, security officers or any staff of the polytechnic for immediate response.

Juliet Oluwaseun, a new student of Science Laboratory Technology revealed that it’s a great pleasure to her, being matriculated into the institution, adding that she will make use of the advice given by the Rector.

Also, Sunday Opeyemi, a new student of computer science noted that being matriculated into the school is a dream come true and would work hard to make himself, his parents and the institution proud.

Mrs Olatide Wualaimat, a parent of one of the students opined that Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is a great institution and it’s her belief that the students will end up well and be a good person in the society.

She also urged the students not to join bad groups that could truncate their academic career.
