Parents of the newly matriculated students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) for the 2022/2023 academic session have thrown their weight behind the institution's decision of 'No school fee, no admission of students.
The parents who disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent expressed joy and happiness that their wards are now bonafide students of the 21st-century University [AAUA].
Speaking after the matriculation ceremony which was held on June 16, 2023, Mr. Adeyemi Matthew said the policy would make students who have the intention of spending their school fees on frivolities have second thoughts.
Another parent, Mrs. Hammed Folashade, urged the students to familiarize themselves with God, saying there are limits to how their parents can monitor them while at school.
"The journey marked their beginning of freedom in everything but not misuse of the opportunity," she added.
While commending the school management for the policy of 'no school fees, no admission', Engineer Owoeye Olusegun, said before parents could decide to send their wards to school, such parents would have made every preparation to cater to their needs.
He said, "Parents should bear in mind that this is a state-owned university, and the government has little or nothing to do with the payments of its staff, so the school depends on school fees for this and also creates and maintains a conducive environment for learning."
Engineer Owoeye congratulated the matriculants and wished them good luck in their academics, urging them to utilize the opportunity very well as some did not have this type of opportunity.
"They should be well-behaved as there are limits to how they can monitor them while at school. The journey marked their beginning of freedom in everything but not misuse of the opportunity.
Newsline NG recalled that the Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle of the institution, Professor Olugbenga Ige had earlier disclosed that students admitted for the 2022/2033 academic session and have not paid their school fees or registered are no longer students of the institution.
Prof Ige said "anyone who has not paid school fees or completed their registration is not qualified to be a bonafide student of the institution, which will lead to termination of their admission
.
