FUOYE student dumps Premature Baby inside bush, dies of complications

Panic gripped residents of Ayegbaju Ekiti, in Oye Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Thursday, as an undergraduate student identified as Josephine died from complications after giving birth. 

Newsline NG learnt that Josephine, a 300 level part time student at Federal University Oye Ekiti was from the department of Demography (DSS). 

It was gathered that she died from complications after giving birth in order not to ruin her relationship. 

A source within the clime, who spoke with Newsline NG under the condition of anonymity narrated that "There is a guy who she was in a relationship with who based oversea and he is ready to come to Nigeria to take her abroad, but she was pregnant, only God knows who got her pregnant" 

"She don't want anything to ruin her relationship with the guy who based oversea 

"To our surprise, due to situation, she went to deliver the baby prematurely and throw the baby at a nearby bush, it is unknown to us what kind of injection she took that led to her quick Labour at just 7 month.

"After delivering the baby prematurely, she dumbed the baby at a nearby bush at the back of her house, and started to bleed. 

"Her neighbors met her and asked why she was bleeding, she replied that she drank an alcohol, she collected from someone and was rushed to a nearby hospital 

"After noticing that the bleeding was too much, she was rushed to an health center at Ayegbaju Ekiti, on getting there, she was asked about the whereabout of the child she gave birth to, but she refused to mention anything about the child whereabout to anyone 



" So, while bleeding profusely, the medical personnel on duty said they can't handle her matter anymore but urged her to be transferred to a nearby hospital in Oye-Ekiti to safe her life, she died in the process. The source said. 

Newsline NG however gathered that both Josephine and the premature baby later died 

A staff at the institution who is not permitted to speak about the incident with our correspondent, promised to confirm when contacted.
