Travel agent docked for alleged N1.8m ticket fraud

A 44-year-old Travel agent, Nathaniel Folorunsho, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ibadan, for an alleged N1.8 million ticket fraud.

Folorunsho was charged with obtaining money under false pretences and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 24 at about 11.40 a.m. at Dugbe area of Ibadan.

Amusan said the defendant obtained the money from the complainant, Mr Omotunde Olaleye under the pretext that he would supply a flight ticket to his client, Mr Ezekiel Obode, but failed to do so.

He said the defendant converted the money to his personal use.

Amusan said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Court President, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1.5 million with two sureties in like sum.

Yusuf adjourned the case until Aug. 6, for mention (NAN)
