Ondo Corps members urged to be resilient

The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has acknowledged the resilience and team spirit of corps members, saying that it would take them far in life.

The State Coordinator made the assertion during the Thanksgiving Service and Prayer Session for the successful orientation course at the worship centres of the National Association of Catholic Corpers (NACC), the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF) and the mosque of the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria (MCAN).

Bakare, who praised the corps members for their adaptability to challenges encountered during the three weeks orientation course, urged them to show more empathy and understanding at their various places of primary assignment, saying they have imbibed the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps.

"My dear children in the national service, I must admit that you have taken the unity of this country to a level that we all must be proud of. Your relationship with people of other faith testify that Nigeria will wax stronger if we truly exhibit love towards one another. You have shown the world that our diversity should be seen from a strong point rather than weakness".

"I have come to appreciate God for HIS faithfulness and unconditional love over us all since the beginning of this orientation course. It can only be HIM. His protection is not what we can quantify, but I know that HE, who has started the course with us, will see it to a glorious ending".

She encouraged them to continue to look out for one another, and share thoughts and views that will make them achieve their full potential, saying that no man is an island on his own, while reassuring them that they would enjoy the service year if they remained disciplined and focused.

The State Coordinator who was represented at the NACC and NCCF worship centres by the Camp Director, Pastor (Mrs.) Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu praised them for rising above segregation and not saying, 'I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos'. She made reference to 1st Corinthians 3:4.

At the mosque, the State Coordinator enjoined the faithfuls to continue to pray for the peace of the nation, while asserting that graduate youth has tangible things to contribute to the overall development of the country.

Prayers were offered for the Scheme and all the stakeholders, including the State Coordinator, Camp Director, Heads of Assignments and collaborating agencies, the corps members as well as the camp market operators.
