Ondo SUBEB Chairman, Olabimtan Occupying Office Illegally After End Of Tenure - APC Group Alleges

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the auspices of the APC mandate group in ondo state have alleged that the chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Honourable Victor Olabimtan is occupying his office illegally, after the end of his tenure in February 2025.

The group, in a statement released by it's southwest zonal publicity secretary, Mr. Kayode Adekunle also called for the Olabimtan's immediate sack and a probe of his stewardship during the period he has overstayed in office.

All efforts at contacting Hon. Olabimtan on this allegation has however proved abortive, as he neither picked our calls nor responded to messages.

Below is the statement Unedited:

APC MANDATE GROUP SOUTH WEST NIGERIA ZONE

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PARTY AND A CALL FOR RESIGNATION AND INVESTIGATION OF RT. HON. VICTOR OLABIMTAN OVER INFRACTION AND ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF OFFICE

Gentlemen of the press

We gather here today to address Nigerians, on the development of our nation, and our great party, the APC.

We are particularly delighted about the enormous overflow of Nigerians and political actors to our great party. The defection of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and one of the most recent Kano South Senator Kawu Sumaila. This further intensifies the growth of our party in other regions.

We are particularly concerned about our region, Southwest Nigeria, where our attention has been drawn to some activities in Ondo State during the Zonal Working Committee meeting by the State Chairman.

To this end, at the SouthWest Caucus, we are lending our support and voice to the Ondo State chapter.

Concerned with the numerous ferocious actions of one of our party leaders, considered damaging and capable of causing party disunity and his failure to recognize the supremacy and values of our party, we are hereby passing a vote of no confidece and calling for meticulous investigation.

It is clear to us that one of the leaders of our party, in Ondo State, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan has drawn a battle line with the "APC Mandate Group" over a prudent calls for restraints, fairness, and equity, with unsavory politicking. The zonal leadership is asking when has it become a crime to address issues in a democracy? Constrained by this action, the "APC Mandate Group" southwest-Nigeria is poised to take further actions to address the issues and promote accountability in the public sector.

Therefore, in addition to the earlier demand that Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan should resign his appointment as Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) should he choose to pursue his ambition to become the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, we wish to bring a new development to public attention.

Credible information at our disposal confirms that the statutory tenure of Rt. Hon. Olabimtan as Chairman of Ondo SUBEB lapsed in February 2025. This implies that he has continued to occupy and operate in that office without lawful authority. Such an action is contrary to the spirit of accountability, transparency, and due process, which the current administration has scored high on.

This revelation raises serious concerns and places his continued occupation of the office as both illegal and illegitimate. Occupying a statutory office without renewal or reappointment sets a dangerous precedent and undermines institutional integrity.

We therefore demand the immediate removal of Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan from the position he no longer legally occupies.

In addition, we call on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who enjoys the popular support of the people of Ondo State, to an overwhelming victory of 18-0, unprecedented 100% political scorecard and relevant oversight bodies to open a full-scale probe into his activities since January 2025, with particular emphasis on project execution, fund utilization, and staff recruitment under his authority beyond his legal tenure.

We are aware how Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has renewed the hopes of the people of Ondo State with a symbolic OUR EASE agenda. Evident in the transformation witnessed across the length and breadth of Ondo State. Considering this impeccable development, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan should not distract the current dividends of democracy currently enjoyed by the people of Ondo State.

We will be forced to relocate the Zonal Headquarters of the APC Mandate Group to Ondo State, should the lingering issues persist and any act of intimidation of our members. To further consolidate our efforts in ensuring both the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr. President and OUR EASE agenda of Mr. Governor, is achieved without constraint, APC Mandate Group will officially communicate Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), on this development.

We assure the leadership of Ondo State of a No Retreat No Surrender Iron Clad stand with them. And we will not give room for any intimidation of our leadership and members.

SIGNED:

Kayode O. Adekunle

 SOUTHWEST ZONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY
