As Igogo Ekiti Day celebrations draw nearer and the sons and daughters of the kingdom already basking in high spirits, the organising committee has announced that the grand event coming up on Saturday, September 6, 2025, promises to leave behind a colourful memory that will linger for year
In a statement released by the Secretary of the Central Organising Committee, Engr. Clement Afolayan, the festivities, expected to gather the creme de lacreme of the community from far and wide, is scheduled to take place at St. Michael's Catholic Nursery and Primary School playing field, Ikosu Road, Igogo Ekiti, and kick off at 10:00 am.
Sequel to the above, all adult sons and daughters of Igogo Ekiti are reminded to pay their annual development levy of N6,000 before the D-day.
This levy, according to him, is an obligation, crucial to the development of the kingdom, while branches of the Igogo Ekiti Development Association (IDA) in different parts of the country and overseas are requested to send their delegates to the event with their donations to support the celebration and growth of the kingdom.
The celebration, he stressed, will feature a grand display of cultural heritage, as all age groups, societies, clubs, quarters and professional groups are enjoined to come out in their latest attires (Aso Ebi) to pay homage to their Kabiyesi, HRM, Oba (Barr) Sunday Olusola Adewumi JP, the Onigogo of Igogo Ekiti and his council chiefs during the event, saying this display of unity and solidarity will showcase the rich cultural diversity, filled with merriment, music and dance.
He added that the three quarters of the kingdom, namely Ebi meta, Isalu Oke/Isalu Odo and Idemo/Idoka are expected to play an important role in the celebration, as they are tasked with donating a total of N1 million each for the success of the event and actualisation of its objectives.
The Igogo Ekiti Day celebration is a significant event that brings together the sons and daughters of the kingdom to celebrate their heritage and culture. It provides a platform for the community to come together, share ideas and work towards the development of the town.
As the kingdom counts down to the big day, the organisers are confident that with the support of the public spirited sons and daughters, the celebration will be a grand success and remain a memorable occasion that will go down in history.
