Barely three weeks to Igogo Ekiti Day celebrations, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Williams Mobolaji Afolabi, has expressed profound gratitude to members of various subcommittees for efforts already put in place for the success of the programme.
Speaking recently at an activity audit session with committee members, the retired Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State expressed optimism that members' dedication, hard work and commitment so far "is an indication that the 2025 outing will record huge success".
Afolabi noted that given the state of preparedness, the fiesta, slated for Saturday 6th September, promises to be spectacular, particularly with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Igogo Ekiti Commercial High School falling within the same week.
"I am overwhelmed by the level of commitment and enthusiasm displayed by each subcommittee. Your collective efforts will undoubtedly make this year's festival a memorable one for our community and guests", he stated.
The chairman highlighted some of the key attractions that will feature during the celebrations, including football match competitions among the youths, quiz and debates by secondary students, dance performances, award and scholarship presentations, with the grand finale being fund raising for the various ongoing developmental projects in the town.
While calling on those already invited from far and near for financial contributions to live up to expectation, he urged members of the community to mark their calendars for the event and called on the various age grades, professional associations, groups and other stakeholders to troup out en masse during the event and see the programme as a clarion call for community development and social engagement.
Afolabi acknowledged the community leaders, prospective donors and other stakeholders for their promises to put in their best for a successful outing.
"We are grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from various stakeholders so far.
Their contributions will go a long way in ensuring the success and actualisation of the annual festival's objectives", he stressed.
"I am excited for the upcoming programme and wish to express confidence in our committee's ability to deliver an outstanding event. With the collective efforts of members, supports from public spirited individuals, families and groups in the community and the special grace of God, I am convinced that this year's events will be a grand success. Let us continue to work together to make it happen", he added.
He, however, warned that his committee would not take it lightly with anybody, who fails to carry out his/her assignment after being paid for one service or the other, saying such contractor will be blackmailed in subsequent events.
