The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared open the 2025 Batch C Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Gbakuta, Iseyin, delivering an uplifting message that challenged the newly sworn-in corps members to embrace discipline, innovation, and national unity.
He congratulated them on the milestone of completing their academic journey and reminded them that their deployment signifies a call to service at a defining moment in Nigeria’s history.
Representing the executive Governor, the Director, Ministry of Youth, Alhaja Kudirat O. Mustapha, described the Orientation Course as a unique melting pot of cultures and aspirations designed to build discipline, teamwork, and leadership capacity.
He encouraged the corps members to maximise every opportunity the camp provides, from physical drills and lectures to the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, stressing that the lessons learned will shape their contributions during and beyond their service year.
He assured them of the state government’s full support in welfare, security, and empowerment.
The Governor also acknowledged the nation’s economic and security challenges, urging the corps members not to be discouraged but to see themselves as part of the solution.
According to him, the strength of Nigeria lies not in the absence of challenges but in the resilience and ingenuity of its young people. He urged them to explore Oyo State, respect local customs, and leave positive footprints in their host communities.
Earlier in the ceremony, the State Coordinator of NYSC Oyo State, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, welcomed dignitaries and corps members to the camp and praised the discipline and cooperation exhibited since their arrival.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his continued commitment to youth development and reaffirmed NYSC’s dedication to nurturing responsible leaders through impactful orientation activities.
The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Honourable Justice Iyabo Yerima, represented by Honourable Justice Ezekiel O. Ajayi, administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members, formally inducting them into national service. She urged them to uphold the Constitution and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of the Scheme.
A major highlight of the opening ceremony was the spirited tug-of-war display by the Man O’ War unit, which thrilled guests with its energy, discipline, and teamwork, symbolic of the unity and collaboration the NYSC promotes.
The performance drew loud cheers across the parade ground.The event also had in attendance the Aseyin of Iseyinland, His Royal Majesty Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, who commended the smooth conduct of the ceremony and welcomed the corps members to his domain.
With the formalities concluded, the 2025 Batch C corps members begin their orientation journey in the Pacesetter State, inspired and prepared to serve with pride and purpose.
