5‑Aside Street Football Tournament's Fixtures Released

The Seun Albert Foundation will kick off its Annual “5ive Aside Street Football” tournament on Sunday, 14 December 2025 at Government Field, Ore.

The Competition, running through Saturday , 17 December, will showcase local youth teams in fast‑paced, five‑a‑side matches aimed at promoting grassroots football, healthy competition and community cohesion during the festive season.

“We want to harness the energy of our community and give the youth a constructive outlet,” said a foundation spokesperson. 

“The 5ive Aside format is perfect for showcasing talent in a fun, inclusive environment.”

Sunday 14 Dec – Government Field 1

    - 2 pm – Express vs. Olowo Camp 1

    - 3 pm – Custom vs. Olowo Camp 2

    - 4 pm – Opeyemi vs. Zaccheus

Monday 15 Dec – Government Field 1

    - 3 pm – Wesco vs. Odole Odigbo

    - 4 pm – Ogbe vs. Idimango

    - 5 pm – Jerry Sawmill vs. Ologede

Tuesday 16 Dec – Government Field 1

Gates open at noon each day to welcome spectators. Additional fixtures will be posted as they are confirmed. Participants are urged to adhere strictly to kickoff times to avoid walkovers and fines.

Founder of the Seun Albert Foundation, Mr Seun Albert expressed confidence that the tournament will become an annual fixture.

“We are grateful for the support of local authorities, sponsors and the community. Our hope is that this event will inspire more youth to pick up a ball and chase their dreams, both on and off the field.”

Key points from the rule sheet include:

1. No offside – players can move freely without worrying about the offside line.

2. Throw‑ins are optional – teams may choose to take a throw‑in with the hand or simply play the ball back into play.

3. Goalkeepers may only use their legs – the keeper cannot handle the ball with the hands.

4. Handball fouls – any deliberate handball results in a direct free kick; if it occurs inside the semicircle arc, a penalty is awarded.

5. Red‑card protocol – a player shown a red card leaves the field immediately, may be replaced, but must sit out the next match.

6. Match length – two halves of 20 minutes each, with a 10‑minute halftime break.

7. Footwear required – all players must wear boots or canvas shoes; no barefoot play is allowed.

8. No direct scores from kickoff or throw‑in – a goal cannot be scored directly from these restarts.

9. Unlimited substitutions – teams may make changes at any stoppage without limit.

10. Kickoff from centre spot – the ball starts from the halfway line for each half.

11. No corner kicks – the ball is played in from the sideline after it crosses the goal line.

12. Own‑goal rule – if a player puts the ball into his own net, the opposition receives an indirect free kick from where the ball was last kicked.

13. Serious fouls – any act deemed serious foul play will be punished with a red card.

14. Penalty‑taking – when a penalty is awarded, the taker may take only one step before striking the ball.

15. Penalty spot – the kick is taken from a marked point on the semicircle arc.

Football enthusiasts in Ore and surrounding areas are invited to attend and support the young talent set to light up Government Field over the next four days.
