The Faculty of Computing, Federal University Oye‑Ekiti (FUOYE) has conducted its orientation programme for fresh students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The maiden event took place at the New Faculty of Science Auditorium (NFSA) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Newsline NG learned that the programme was aimed at equipping new students with vital information to thrive in their academic journey in the world of computing.
The Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Dr. Gabriel O. Ogunleye, delivered the welcoming address.
He provided a brief history of the faculty, explaining its unbundling from the Faculty of Science to better serve students specialising in computing disciplines.
Dr. Ogunleye, the pioneer Head of the Department of Computer Science, urged the new students to remain dedicated, focused and committed to their studies.
He also cautioned them against social vices.
“I urge you to shun cultism, examination malpractices, indecent dressing, and any behaviour that could truncate your promising future.”
Dr. Ogunleye, a former Director of JUPEB, welcomed the freshers to the faculty and encouraged them to be good ambassadors of the university.
The orientation concluded with a lively question‑and‑answer session, allowing fresh students to clarify doubts and better prepare for university life.
In his vote of thanks, the Faculty President, Comrade Vincent Oluwatobiloba Kelvin, expressed profound appreciation to the faculty management and all staff members for their unwavering support.
He also commended the Faculty Officer, Mrs. Helen Ajibaye, for her motherly role in guiding and assisting students.
Comrade Kelvin warmly welcomed the freshers, encouraging them to take full advantage of the resources and opportunities available within the faculty.
