The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) on Thursday, December 18, 2025, held its Christmas Carol and Retirement Party at the Revenue House, bringing together management, staff, and retirees in a celebration of faith, service, and gratitude.
The event commenced with a colourful processional hymn led by the ODIRS Choir, setting a reverent tone for the celebration. This was followed by the choir’s first ministration, featuring the songs “12 Days of Christmas” and “Ding Dong Merrily on High.”
In his welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman of ODIRS, Mr. Bayo Rojugbokan, FCA, FCTI, expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of staff and retirees so that they could witness the occasion.
He thanked God on behalf of the retirees who had diligently served the government for 35 years, noting that their dedication and commitment greatly contributed to the growth and current standing of the agency.
He also appreciated all those who participated in making the programme a success.
The Executive Chairman also took the first Bible lesson from the book of Matthew, chapter 2, verses 1–6.
The second choir ministration was led by the former Director of Personal Income Tax, Mr. Olusegun Enikuomehin, who was also the choir director before his retirement and one of the retirees being celebrated.
The second Bible lesson was taken by the Director, ADR, Advisory and Compliance, Mrs. Anasoh Anabui Uche, from the book of John, chapter 1, verses 1–2.
The choir thereafter rendered its third ministration titled “Kaabo / E fope f’Oluwa,” after which the third lesson was read by Mr. Makinwa Ayodeji, Assistant Director, Administration.
A congregational hymn titled “Igbakan ni Bethlihemu” was then rendered by the choir, followed by the fourth lesson taken by the Agency’s Chaplain, Barr. Gregory Afuwape, from the book of Luke, chapter 2, verses 1- 13.
The highlight of the service was the exhortation delivered by Pastor J. C. Omatule on the topic “Christ’s Birth: A New Turning Point to the World,” where he emphasized the significance of the birth of Christ to humanity and the need for renewed commitment to Godly values.
One of the major features of the event was the presentation of gifts to the retirees by the Executive Chairman of ODIRS. The retirees expressed their appreciation to the management of the Service for recognizing their years of commitment and meritorious service to the agency and the state at large.
The programme ended with a closing prayer led by Pastor Samuel Olajide, while the recessional hymn “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” brought the colourful Christmas Carol and Retirement Party to a joyful close.
