The National Youth Service Corps Oyo State has formally concluded the 2025 Batch C Orientation Course with a resounding call for discipline, service and character driven leadership.
Speaking at the closing ceremony held at the Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin, the State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, expressed profound satisfaction with the performance of the corps members during the intensive three week programme.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, whose commitment he said continues to strengthen the operations of the scheme in the state.
Mr. Peters described the twenty one day orientation as a carefully structured programme designed to build resilience, civic consciousness and a deeper sense of national duty among the corps members.
He highlighted that the period exposed them to drills, physical and mental fitness sessions, SAED trainings, security engagements, cultural interactions and diverse capacity building lectures, elements he said have adequately prepared them for the responsibilities ahead at their various Places of Primary Assignment.
He noted that experts from government ministries, private organisations, security agencies, health institutions and traditional bodies delivered impactful lectures on entrepreneurship, national integrity, ethics, security awareness and civic responsibility.
These contributions, according to him, enriched the intellectual content of the orientation and equipped the corps members with the practical skills needed to positively influence their host communities.
Commending the corps members for their discipline, enthusiasm and maturity, the State Coordinator urged community stakeholders, employers and traditional leaders across the state to receive them as partners in progress.
He emphasized that while they bring youthful vibrancy and creativity, they also require guidance, encouragement and opportunities to translate their energy into meaningful development for Oyo State.
Addressing the corps members, Mr. Peters advised them to carry the NYSC core values into every assignment they would undertake. He encouraged them to remain security conscious, avoid unnecessary travel, communicate regularly with NYSC officials and respect the customs of their host communities.
He further urged them to pursue skill development beyond camp and to initiate community development projects that can contribute to the advancement of grassroots communities across the state.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Peters expressed deep appreciation to the Oyo State Government, the Aseyin of Iseyin, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, local government authorities, security agencies, collaborating institutions and camp officials for ensuring a peaceful and successful orientation exercise.
He prayed for divine protection and impactful service for the corps members, urging them to make Oyo State a fertile ground for their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
