The Oyo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, has commended the dedication, patriotism and resilience of the 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members as they formally concluded their one year national service.
Speaking at the low key Passing Out Ceremony held at the NYSC Oyo State Secretariat, Mr. Peters expressed gratitude to God for a successful service year, describing the occasion as a moment of reflection, celebration and appreciation for selfless service to the nation.
Recalling their arrival at the Iseyin Orientation Camp, the State Coordinator noted that the Corps Members embraced their service responsibilities with commendable zeal, contributing meaningfully in classrooms, hospitals, farms and offices, while also executing impactful Community Development Service projects within their host communities.
Mr. Peters highlighted the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme of the NYSC as a strategic response to job scarcity, explaining that the initiative equips Corps Members with practical skills and entrepreneurial capacity to become self-reliant and productive.
He encouraged them to sustain and expand the skills acquired beyond the service year.
He charged the outgoing Corps Members to uphold the values of discipline, patriotism, leadership and service, stressing that Nigeria requires young people who are innovative, principled and prepared to lead with integrity and resilience in all spheres of life.
The highlight of the event was the sample distribution of Certificates of National Service and the presentation of the State Coordinator’s commendation letters to deserving Corps Members, while the State Coordinator also appreciated the Oyo State Government, corps employers, traditional rulers, security agencies, NYSC staff and the people of Oyo State for their support and hospitality, congratulating the Corps Members and urging them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Scheme, their families and the nation.
