The countdown to the Seun Albert Foundation’s annual 5ive Aside Street Football Tournament draw for the 2025 edition has been conducted.
The Competition is officially scheduled to commence From Sunday, December 14, 2025 to Saturday, December 27, 2025
Dubbed "explosive", the draw immediately delivered on its promise, pitting local giants against fierce underdogs across six fiercely competitive groups (A through F).
The tournament, a flagship initiative aimed at youth engagement and community development through sports, is expected to feature some of the most thrilling grassroots football action of the year.
Excitement is already palpable as teams now turn their attention to tactical preparation, with the road to the final set to be a grueling test of skill, fitness, and street smarts.
All eyes immediately turned to Group B, which has been quickly labeled the "Group of Death." As the only group featuring four teams alongside Group E and F, it promises maximum drama from the outset.
Heavyweights CUSTOM STREET must navigate a tricky path against OLOWO CAMP 2, OPEYEMI STREET, and ZACCHEUS STREET. With every point crucial in this tight quartet, progression from Group B will require consistency and resilience, ensuring that the opening matches on this side of the bracket are must-watch events for fans eager to see who can claim the two crucial knockout spots.
Elsewhere, several high-stakes three-way tussles emerged, guaranteeing drama in the early stages. Group A sets the stage for an intense local rivalry as EXPRESS ORE and OLOWO CAMP 1 face off with the unpredictable BARRACK BOYS looming as potential spoilers.
Similarly, Group D features a classic neighbourhood contest where OGBE STREET, IDIMANGO STREET, and OJOMU STREET will battle for supremacy in a three-match mini-league where goal difference could prove decisive.
These compact groups ensure that every goal scored and every tackle made will carry the weight of elimination.
The draws for Group E and Group F hint at the potential for dark horses to emerge and claim the spotlight. In Group E, teams like JERRY SAWMILL and OLOGEDE STREET will look to make their mark against strong opposition from NEWTOWN ODIGBO and ENIKU STREET. Meanwhile, SOWER STREET and OLOKUTA lead a competitive Group F that also includes OLUPITAN and a team representing Govt field, creating a wide-open bracket.
The presence of these four-team groups allows for an extra round of matches, giving the participating squads more opportunity to settle into the tournament rhythm and stage an upset.
As team captains convene to analyze their opponents, the Seun Albert Foundation’s 5ive Aside tournament is once again poised to deliver on its promise of promoting unity and passion among the youth.
The explosive draw has laid the groundwork for a memorable competition, ensuring that fans and participants alike are counting down the days until the whistle blows for the opening match.
All streets, camps, and fields are encouraged to rally behind their representatives as they prepare to fight for bragging rights and the coveted 2025 trophy.
