Shock as Woman Rises from the Dead inside a coffin

A cremation ceremony at a Buddhist temple near Bangkok, Thailand, took a dramatic turn after a 65-year-old woman believed to be dead suddenly regained consciousness inside her coffin, startling mourners and temple staff.

According to Sky News, workers at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple said they were preparing for the cremation when faint knocking was heard from inside the coffin. 

The woman had reportedly stopped breathing two days earlier and was taken for dead before being transported to the temple.

Her family had travelled hundreds of miles with the coffin, expecting to carry out her final rites. 

But just minutes before the ceremony began, the temple manager, Pairat Soodthoop, said he heard an unusual sound that made him intervene.

“I was a bit surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin, and everyone was startled,” he said.

“I saw her opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She must have been knocking for quite some time.”

The cremation, which was scheduled to be live-streamed, was immediately halted.

Local newspaper Thairath identified the woman as Chonthirat Sakulkoo, who had been bedridden for nearly two years. 

Her brother, Mongkol Sakulkoo, had assumed she had passed away after she became unresponsive and appeared to stop breathing. In that state, he placed her in a coffin and drove her from Phitsanulok province in northern Thailand to Bangkok.

Reports also indicated that local officials had earlier informed the family that the woman had died.

The woman had wished to donate her organs to a hospital in the capital, but her brother was reportedly turned away due to missing documentation. 

He then proceeded to the temple, which offers free cremation services.

Upon being found alive, she was rushed to Bang Yai Hospital where doctors diagnosed her with hypoglycemia. 

She received treatment and was later released into her brother’s care, Thairath reported.

Asked about his reaction to discovering that his sister was still alive, Mr Sakulkoo told the newspaper he felt indifferent.
