Why i defected to APC --- Assembly Speaker

Martin Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the move on Friday along with 15 other members of the House, DAILY POST reports.

Amaewhule explained that internal divisions within the PDP prompted the decision to switch parties.

The defection is seen as a significant political shift in Rivers State, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the House of Assembly.

Earlier in March, President Bola Tinubu had imposed a state of emergency in Rivers, suspending Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state legislature.

Political analysts suggest the development could strengthen APC’s influence in the state while weakening the PDP’s hold in the assembly.
