The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti, has commenced admission into its Pre-Degree Programme, offering prospective students opportunities across 35 courses in four faculties duly approved and accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The programme, according to the university, is designed to adequately prepare candidates for admission into 100 Level undergraduate programmes by strengthening their academic foundation, addressing identified O’Level deficiencies and enhancing performance in JAMB/UTME and Post-UTME examinations.
A statement issued by the FUTES management stated that applicants must possess a minimum of five O-Level credits, including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and other relevant subjects, obtained in SSCE, NECO, or NABTEB examinations.
Prospective candidates are required to obtain application forms online at the cost of ₦10,000 via the university portal by visiting
https://portal.futes.edu.ng/foundation
Applicants are expected to complete the form, provide required personal details, and upload relevant academic credentials. Candidates who have successfully completed the application process are advised to regularly check the university website for updates on their admission status.

Speaking on the one-year programme, the Vice-Chancellor of FUTES, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, described it as part of the university’s broader strategies to promote academic excellence, provide career guidance and help students adjust seamlessly to university life.
According to him, the programme is also designed to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education while placing students in a better position to secure admission into undergraduate programmes of their choice through intensive training in core subjects.
“Our Pre-Degree Programme is structured to strengthen students’ knowledge base while developing critical thinking, writing, and oral communication skills essential for success at the university level,” Professor Aribisala said.
He added that FUTES remains committed to its vision of becoming a leading, reputable, and top-ranked institution in Africa, driving development through innovation, sustainable technologies and research.
The Vice-Chancellor further cautioned prospective students, parents, and guardians to pay close attention to information published on the university’s official website, www.futes.edu.ng, particularly regarding application procedures and payment processes.
Professor Aribisala emphasised that FUTES does not operate through agents for admission or fee payments, warning members of the public to beware of fraudsters.
“We wish to make it clear that the university does not have agents for admission or payment of fees. All relevant information is available on our website. Applicants are advised to read carefully and adhere strictly to official guidelines to avoid being defrauded by unscrupulous individuals. As Vice-Chancellor, I will not preside over any form of rot,” he stated.
