Traditional rulers across Ondo State have thrown their weight behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as he marks one year in office, applauding what they describe as bold and transformative urban renewal projects reshaping Akure, the capital city of Ondo State.
Under the aegis of the state’s council of traditional rulers, 130 crowned Obas congratulate the governor on what they termed a “purposeful and development-driven” first year, noting that visible improvements in infrastructure and environmental management have begun to redefine the urban landscape.
In their goodwill message, the monarchs commended the administration’s sustained investment in road rehabilitation, city beautification, drainage construction, and agricultural development. They observed that several township roads previously plagued by disrepair have been upgraded, easing transportation challenges and boosting commercial activities.
According to the royal fathers, the governor’s urban renewal agenda is not only restoring public confidence in governance but also stimulating economic growth. They pointed to improved access routes for traders and commuters, enhanced aesthetics in major towns, and increased investor interest as indicators that the state is on a steady path to modernization.
The traditional rulers also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s consultative leadership style, describing his engagement with stakeholders-including traditional institutions-as a hallmark of inclusive governance. They noted that collaboration between government and royal institutions has strengthened grassroots participation in development initiatives.
They further commended the Governor for prioritizing the welfare of traditional rulers, especially the Obas, recognizing their vital role in preserving culture, maintaining grassroots peace, and supporting community development. By strengthening their welfare, the administration not only upholds longstanding institutions but also reinforces collaboration between the government and traditional authorities. This thoughtful approach reflects respect for heritage and an understanding that empowering custodians of tradition contributes significantly to stability, unity, and sustainable progress across the state.
While celebrating the administration’s achievements, the Obas urged the governor to sustain the momentum and ensure that infrastructural development reaches rural and riverine communities.
