The Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Department of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) on Saturday produced a remarkable performance to defeat their counterparts from Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) 4–1 in an exciting football encounter.
The highly entertaining match, held at the ABUAD Sports Complex in Ado-Ekiti, saw the FUOYE MLS team dominate proceedings from start to finish, showcasing tactical discipline and attacking prowess.
Right from the sound of the opening whistle, FUOYE asserted their authority, controlling possession and pressing aggressively. Their determination and coordinated play resulted in several clear-cut chances, keeping their opponents under sustained pressure.
The breakthrough came in the first half as FUOYE capitalized on their early dominance to open the scoring. The goal set the pace for what would become a commanding and confident display throughout the game.
Although the ABUAD MLS side managed to score a late goal, it only served as a consolation. FUOYE maintained their composure, tightened their defense, and comfortably saw out the match to secure a well-deserved victory.
Speaking after the game, the FUOYE MLS Team Leader, Olajide Emmanuel David, commended his teammates for their unity, discipline, and relentless commitment. He described the triumph as the outcome of consistent training, teamwork, and strategic preparation.
He further praised the spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated by both teams and expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to sustain their impressive form in subsequent fixtures.
According to him, the emphatic win has significantly boosted the team’s morale and strengthened their reputation as a formidable contender in inter-university football competitions.
He urged the players to remain focused and maintain consistency as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
“This victory gives us strong momentum moving forward. It builds confidence within the team and inspires us to strive for even greater accomplishments.
Olajide also extended appreciation to the university leadership and supporters, including the Vice Chancellor, Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole; the Provost, College of Medicine, Olusola A. Adeeyo; the Head of Department, Dr. David D. Ajayi; the Deputy Registrar and College Secretary, Mr. Olusola O. Taiwo; the Sports Director, Mr. Tijani Oluwakayode; as well as students and staff members. He noted that their encouragement played a crucial role in motivating the team.
