Ambassador Kehinde Akande, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan South-West Local Government, Oyo state, on Monday distributed motorcycles to all ward chairmen and party faithful across the LGA.

Akande said the distribution is aimed at complementing Gov. Seyi Makinde’s good deeds and improved welfare packages for the people.

The chairman added that it is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and enhance party development, which includes selected career officers of the local government.

Akande, while addressing the mammoth crowd at the event which took place at the LG secretariat, Ibadan, described Makinde as the “world best governor”.

He noted that the governor contributed immensely to the growth and development of Oyo state through unprecedented development and achievements.

According to him, the achievements include the distribution of motorcycle to 33 local governments in the state for the growth of the party and community development.

The council boss said the initiative aims to improve mobility, coordination and effective engagement at the ward level, thereby deepening the party’s presence and operational efficiency across communities.

This distribution is not just about motorcycles, it is about strengthening our connection with the people, improving service delivery, and ensuring that our party remains active, responsive, and visible in every ward,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the motorcycles, emphasising that they are tools for service, outreach, and effective political engagement.

He further urged them to intensify efforts to mobilise support, disseminate government policies, and maintain unity within their respective wards.

Akande however appealed to everyone to register with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to vote for their candidates during the general elections.

He also enjoined them to attend meetings regularly and double their efforts to make sure PDP members get to the top seat of governance in the state for continuity.

The chairman expressed appreciation to Gov. Makinde for his unrelenting commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

He noted that the gesture reflects the governor’s dedication to empowering party structures at the local level.

Mr Nurudeen Alade, the Ward Chairman for Ward 5, expressed gratitude to both the governor and the local government chairman for the kind gesture.

Alade pledged to utilise the motorcycle responsibly to advance the party’s interest and promote development of Ibadan south-west council.
