A family in Owo, has cried out for justice following the tragic killing of an 18-year-old boy, Amos Timilehin Ariyo, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his close friend in a shocking incident that has thrown the community into grief.

Residents said the teenager was attacked along the roadside by a friend identified as Ortega, who allegedly stabbed him in the chest without any known provocation.
According to family sources, Amos had only recently recovered from a bout of fever and was on his way from his mother’s residence to her shop, located a few metres away, when the suspect approached him.
Eyewitnesses said the two boys appeared to be together peacefully, raising no suspicion among people in the area.
Residents in the neighbourhood explained that the pair were known to be friends and were often seen together.
However, the calm atmosphere suddenly turned tragic when Amos reportedly screamed in pain and collapsed moments after he was stabbed. The suspect was said to have fled immediately after the attack.
People who rushed to the scene found the teenager lying in a pool of blood and struggling to breathe. Efforts were quickly made to rush him to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Amos was taken to the Federal Medical Centre Owo, which is less than half a kilometre from the scene of the attack. Unfortunately, medical personnel later confirmed that the teenager was brought in dead, having sustained a deep stab wound to the heart.
News of his death quickly spread through the neighbourhood, throwing residents into mourning. Friends, neighbours and sympathisers gathered around the bereaved family’s home, describing Amos as a gentle, peaceful and generous young boy who had never been known to be involved in any trouble.
Community members later mobilised and successfully apprehended the fleeing suspect. He was subsequently handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.
Police sources said the suspect allegedly claimed during preliminary questioning that he had been sponsored by some individuals to carry out the attack.
The identities of those allegedly mentioned were, however, not disclosed as investigations continue.
The bereaved family has called on security agencies and the judiciary to ensure that justice is served.
They urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and prosecute anyone found culpable in the crime.

However, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and the arrest of a suspect.
He said, “The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Timilehin, following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026.
He said, “Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was allegedly stabbed during an argument by one Johnson Daniel. The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Owo, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
“Police detectives visited the scene and recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, while the suspect has been arrested. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation.
“The command commiserates with the family of the deceased and urges members of the public to avoid violence in resolving disputes. Further updates will be communicated as investigation progresses.”
