Traditionalists under the umbrella of Alakoso Iledi Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, gathered in large numbers to celebrate the 2026 Annual New Year Prayers in a colourful and spiritually significant ceremony.
The event, held at their Ore headquarters, attracted adherents and dignitaries from within Nigeria and across the globe, all united in their quest for prosperity, peace, and progress in the new year.
The ceremony was led by the Alakoso of Iledi Ore and Ayadi of Ore Kingdom, Chief Tope Ijiniga, who expressed profound gratitude to the deities for their protection and guidance over the past year.
He noted that the successful gathering of members from far and near was a testament to divine favour and the enduring unity within the fold.
In his address, Chief Ijiniga urged members of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF) to remain steadfast in upholding the principles, traditions, and rules guiding the fraternity.
He emphasized the importance of discipline, loyalty, and commitment, stressing that adherence to these values would ensure continued growth and relevance of the organization.
The Alakoso also appreciated the unwavering support and cooperation of members, assuring them of his dedication to purposeful and transparent leadership.
He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity and strengthening the fraternity’s role in community development.
A guest at the occasion, described the ROF as a sacred, powerful, and peace-driven institution with deep-rooted cultural significance.
He charged members worldwide to uphold their integrity and conduct themselves responsibly in public, noting that their individual actions reflect on the image of the fraternity.
The speaker further advised members to be conscious of their personal reputation in their daily activities, urging them to serve as ambassadors of the organization wherever they find themselves.
According to him, maintaining dignity and respect in public life is essential to sustaining the credibility of the ROF.
Also speaking, Chief Mrs. Toyin Akinkunmi, popularly known as Yeye Abiye, highlighted the moral and social values upheld by members of the fraternity.
She described ROF adherents as God-fearing, progressive, and committed to the well-being of their communities.
Chief Akinkunmi called on the public to desist from labeling members of the fraternity as cultists, insisting that such misconceptions misrepresent the true nature and objectives of the organization.
She emphasized that the ROF remains a lawful and respected body dedicated to promoting peace, culture, and societal development.
The event featured traditional rites, prayers, and interactions among members, reinforcing their shared beliefs and cultural heritage.
Participants who spoke with our correspondent however expressed optimism that the prayers offered would usher in a year of abundance, unity, and continued progress for members and their communities.
