The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law to convert Owena Press Limited into the Ondo State Government Printing and Publishing Corporation.
The bill was unanimously approved through a voice vote during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, at the Assembly Complex in Akure.
Its passage followed the submission of a report by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi, who noted that the reform is aimed at enhancing staff welfare and boosting professional development.
He explained that the new structure would provide clearer career progression, improved working conditions, and opportunities for training in modern printing and digital publishing.
Earlier, the Leader of the House, Hon. (Chief) Olatunji Oshati, moved the motion for the bill’s passage, which was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ondo West II, Hon. Oladapo Biola. Oshati described the legislation as long overdue, adding that it represents a bold step toward efficiency, sustainability, and stronger government communication.
In his remarks, Speaker Oladiji expressed optimism that the transformation would strengthen the security of government publications and ensure proper archival preservation of official records and historical materials.
He also commended members of the committee for their diligence and praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to the overall development of the state.
