LG inaugurates new health centre at Akuro, renovates facility at Bode in Ibadan

The Ibadan South-West Local Government, on Monday, inaugurated a newly constructed modern health centre at Akuro and a renovated and modernized health centre at Bode, both in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project was part of efforts to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery within the LG.

Speaking during the inaugurations, the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Kehinde Akande, said the projects were clear demonstrations of his administration’s determination to improve the wellbeing of residents.

Akande added it was to provide quality medical services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and provide modern, functional and well-equipped healthcare facilities for all residents.

He noted that the projects were made possible by Gov. Seyi Makinde’s vision on health matters.

The council chairman said that the governor’s vision repositioned Oyo State as a pace-setting state through health facilities upgrade, Health Care Insurance Scheme, and total overhauling of the health care delivery system.

“My sincere appreciation goes to the people’s governor, the Architect of modern Oyo State, Gov. Makinde whose ascension to the exalted seat has brought a tremendous, unparalleled and unprecedented growth to Oyo State.

“You have indeed redefined governance, having repositioned Oyo State to a lofty height which establishes her as the pace-setting state.

“I also extend my appreciation to political leaders, legislative arm, party stalwarts, community leaders, Ibadan South -West management staff and all who contributed to the successful completion of these projects,” Akande said.

He enumerated other achievements of his five-year administration to include: ongoing construction of a modern library, ICT centre, vocational training centre and Ibadan South-West LG office complex for political functionaries.

Other projects, Akande said, were provision of a motor vehicle to Orita Challenge Divisional Police Station; drilling of boreholes at Abogun Compound, Popo, Bolumole, NITEL and Oke-Ado areas.

“Construction of roads at Idi-Are to Popoyemoja, Fijabi Road, Iyaganku Road, Olubadan Stadium and Alalubosa Area.

“And provision of street lights at Born Photo, Idi-Arere, Iyana Lodge, Bode Market, NITEL, Apata and Orita Police Station among others,” the chairman said.

Akande urged residents to make judicious use of the new health centres so as to receive more from the administration.

He also called on citizens and parents to remain vigilant and security conscious amid current security challenges.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on all residents, parents to remain vigilant and security conscious.

“I urge everyone to promptly report any suspicious movement, criminal activity, kidnapping and banditry to the appropriate authority.

“Parents should take proper care of their wards at this difficult time and I pray we will not be victim of bandits while we pray for the quick release of the abducted teachers and students in the Oriire Local Government,” he said.

The chairman solicited continued support for the PDP-led Government in Oyo State under Gov. Makinde and enjoined residents to vote for APM candidates during the forthcoming general elections.

“This is so that good deeds and governance will continue at federal, state and local government levels,” Akande said. (NAN)
