A Professor of epistemology, critical thinking, and the philosophy of science at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Benson Monehin Akinnawonu, has added another feather to his studded cap with his induction into full membership of the Nigeria Academy of Letters.
The Nigeria Academy of Letters is the umbrella body of all professional associations in Nigeria for the promotion of scholarships in the humanities.
Prof. Akinnawonu, a Fellow and current National President of the Philosophers Association of Nigeria (PAN), bagged the honour on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the 28th convocation of the body held at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.
An alumnus of the prestigious Galilee International Management Institute, Israel, and a Member of Intellect-Base International Consortium, USA, Prof. Akinnawonu has held several academic and administrative positions in Adekunle Ajasin University.
These included; Dean of the Postgraduate School, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, two-term Member of the University Governing Council, and as Director of the Academic Planning Unit.
Speaking on the feat, Prof. Akinnawonu said the induction would improve the web visibility of Adekunle Ajasin University by serving as a veritable platform for showcasing his contributions to knowledge globally.
He added that it would also create an opportunity for high-level academic collaborations and further shape his intellectual pursuits in the humanities.
