Ex-FETHI CMD Ojo Launches Educational Awards for Orphans in Igogo-Ekiti

By Gabriel Sunday Afolayan

A former Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti (FETHI), Dr Mrs Ololade Olusola Ojo has instituted a special educational award for orphaned pupils in Igogo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, making it the first initiative in the community specifically dedicated to supporting vulnerable orphans in their educational pursuits.

Under the initiative, two most deserving orphan students, to be selected from Ifelodun Comprehensive High School and Igogo Commercial High School, Igogo-Ekiti, respectively, will receive a cash award of N100,000 each.

In addition, the initiative extends to pupils at the primary-school level, where most deserving indigent orphan pupil from each of the four public primary schools in the town will receive N25,000, bringing the total number of primary-school beneficiaries to four.

According to the respected Yeye Oba of Igógo Ekiti Kingdom, the award is designed to provide meaningful assistance to orphaned learners who may face financial difficulties in pursuing their education and encouraging them to remain committed to their studies, despite the challenges they may encounter.

This initiative is a significant milestone in community-based educational support, particularly for its specific focus on orphaned children.

By identifying and supporting deserving orphan students and pupils across secondary and primary schools, Dr Mrs Ololade Olusola Ojo is providing an avenue for vulnerable children to receive encouragement and assistance in their academic journey.

The award, which will debut during the grand finale of the 2026 Igogo Ekiti Day celebrations, is expected to inspire other individuals, organisations and well-meaning members of the Igogo-Ekiti community to invest in the education and welfare of vulnerable children, sending a strong message of compassion and ensuring that orphaned children are not left behind in the pursuit of quality education.
