Strengthen Fight Against Insecurity -Igboho Urges IRU EKUN Members

Yoruba self-determination activist, Sunday Igboho, has urged members of the newly inaugurated IRU EKUN security group to work with relevant security agencies to tackle banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities in the South-West.

Igboho gave the charge during the inauguration of about 200 members of the group in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He said the initiative was designed to complement the efforts of established security agencies in addressing security challenges confronting communities across the region.

The activist urged members to prioritise intelligence gathering and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the appropriate authorities to prevent criminal incidents and improve public safety.

He stressed that effective collaboration and timely sharing of credible intelligence were essential to combating insecurity, urging members to remain disciplined and law-abiding in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Igboho also cautioned the members against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in unlawful activities, emphasising the need to respect the law while supporting efforts to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, the Ayadi of Ore Kingdom, Chief Tope Ijiniga, has been appointed the zonal commander of IRU EKUN in Odigbo Local Government Area.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ijiniga expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify the appointment through dedicated service.

He highlighted the importance of discipline, intelligence gathering and cooperation with recognised security agencies in tackling security threats and maintaining peace in the area.

The traditional chief further pledged to work with other members of the group to strengthen community security and safeguard lives and property across Odigbo Local Government Area.
