This is contained in a communiqué from its 50th Annual and General Scientific Meeting (AGSM) in Ibadan. The communique was signed by the WACP Nigeria Chairman, Dr Benjamin Uzochukwu and National Secretary, Dr Sunday Malomo. The meeting, held from July 5 to July 11, had the theme “Building Bridges, Forging Resilience and Partnership in Health” and a total of 434 doctors registered for the event. The pupils and teachers abducted by suspected gunmen in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity . Their release was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. "Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors," Onanuga stated. Tragedy has struck Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State following the death of two young sisters who sustained severe burns after a fire allegedly set by a woman said to be in a relationship with their father. President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, describing the body as fictitious and lacking any legal recognition.
