Woman kidnapped on Okada in Ondo

It was a sad day when a sad news filtered to the people in Akoko that a Resident, Mrs Banji Ademuyiwa was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on her way to Ikun from Oba Akoko with Okada (commercial motorcyclist).

The woman carried the motorcyclist at Oba Akoko, Ikun juction with her son for New year celebration but they couldn’t get to their destination when the kidnappers struck along the road.

The abductors left the son and the Okada rider for them to go and report the incident.

It was gathered that the case has been reported at a Police station, Oba-Akoko.

According to the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ade Akinola, the okada riders has been arrested for questioning.

Court Strikes out Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy Declaration

A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community. The court declared that the Rebuja of Osooro land is the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in Osooro land and that the State Government has no power to create a new chieftaincy without following due process.  In a judgement made available to our correspondent, the court also held that the appointment of the 6th defendant as the Oniju of Iju-Odo was null and void, as it was not done in accordance with the custom and tradition of Iju-Odo.
