Ondo State Chapter of the Nigerian union of Journalists has called upon the state Government to ensure quick distribution of Palliatives to Vulnerable people in the state during this trying period.
The Union, Appealed to the Government to be more proactive in checkmating the spread of COVID-19 particularly inter states movement and alleged misconducts at Ondo state borders.
In Media Release for Easter, signed by the NUJ Chairman, Adetona Aderoboye and the State Secretary, Leke Adegbite, the Union encourages Christians to always emulate Jesus Christ's virtues of sacrifice, steadfastness and uplifting the less privileged as they celebrate at this trying period of COVID-19.
The statement reads in path, "We appeal to the Ondo state government to be more proactive in checkmating the spread of COVID-19 particularly inter states movement and alleged misconducts at Ondo state borders; as well as ensuring timely distribution of palliative items to the vulnerable people in the state, even as the state records second case of coronavirus."
"Ondo NUJ commends journalists, medical workers and other stakeholders who have been in the forefront of enlightening and disseminating awareness messages to the public that have helped the Ondo state government to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
"The Union notes that since this year's Easter is being celebrated amidst ravaging coronavirus pandemic, there is a need for government and wealthy individuals in the Sunshine state to show more love and concern in tackling the plight of suffering citizenry".
"It enjoins christians to put their faith in God and pray fervently to enable our land to overcome one of the most challenging periods in human history, urging journalists to stay safe in the coverage and reportage of COVID-19"
