Unknown gunmen have abducted a Navy Commander along Owo/Ikare Road.
Recall that ,an Army Captain was also kidnapped while traveling from Abuja around Auga/Ikaram road few days before his abduction
The identity of the naval officer is yet to be ascertained .
It was gathered that he was
travelling to Abuja when the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers emanated from the bush and abducted him along Ose/Oba Akoko road, in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
A military/police joint rescue team are already combing the bushes around the area of the incident in a bid to rescue the victim.
It was revealed that the kidnappers were already asking for N50 million ransom before they can release their victim.
Report says an effort to rescue the military officer by a military/police joint team is ongoing as forest around the scene of the incident is being combed.
It was gathered that the Commanding Officer of 323 Artillery Brigade Command, Akure, Bridg Gen Zakari Abubakar, had visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation.
The rate of kidnapping on the Owo/Akoko areas of ondo state despite many police check points has been causing panic among travellers in the area.
Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro who confirmed the incident, said various tactical squads had been deployed to man the area.
The PPRO, however, enjoined all and sundry, especially travellers to be security conscious while on transit, adding that the job of effective crime prevention, detection and control is for everybody and not for the police alone.
