New Coronavirus case confirmed in Ekiti




Following the contact tracing of an old woman from Omuaran Kwara state who died of the virus at the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti,  five new cases of the COVID 19 patients have been confirmed in Ekiti State 

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade who confirmed this at a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti, said that the five people were discovered out of the fifty three primary contacts of the old woman who was referred to the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti from the General Hospital Omuaran, Kwara state.

She explained that two nurses and three patients who were in the same ward with the old woman contracted the virus.

Dr Yaya-Kolade said that the COVID 19 patients have been moved to Government’s Isolation centre with a view to give them prompt attention and proper treatment.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services observed that the two cases formerly recorded had been treated and discharged having tested negative to the virus twice on different occasions.

The Coordinator, Ekiti State COVID 19 Taskforce, Professor Bolaji Aluko emphasized the need for Residents of the state to join hands with government to contain the spread of the virus
