Oyo: African health savers initiatives educates teenagers on menstrual hygiene

It was a moment of joy for students of Oluyole Grammar School, Ring road, Ibadan, Oyo state on Wednesday as they are educated on menstrual hygiene

According to the convener, African health savers initiatives, Yetunde Adeseluka-Oladejo in statement made available to Newsline NG noted that students especially girls need to be educated on Proper menstrual hygiene

"Menstruation is not a choice, It is a compulsory visitor to every girl in every month, many teenage girls especially from low income households are unable to afford sanitary pads.

"This project has provided sanitary pads and menstrual Hygiene education for more than 300 teenage girls in Oyo state


"Our Target is to put an end to period poverty among Teenage girls in Oyo state and to provide Washable, Reusable sanitary pads for 10,000 teenage girls in year 2021.

"Some student skip their school because of unaffordability of sanitary pads on menstrual days.

"No fewer than 200 girls received Nafdac certified, washable, reusable sanitary pads, training on proper care for the sanitary pads, education on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health through the Girls'Count Project", she said
