The Man called Mobolaji J. Omotayo-toyo




Mobolaji J. Omotayo-Toyo was born in Lagos on February 4th, 1974 into the Toyo Family of Igbobini Town, one of the major towns in Apoi-land, Ese Odo LGA of Ondo State.

He attended Polytechnic High School, Ibadan, where he earned himself a place University of Ibadan, Ibadan. Earlier, he attended Polytechnic Staff School, Ibadan for his elementary education.

He subsequently proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Geology with an upper second class degree. He had his Masters Degree in Applied Geophysics from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and another Professional Masters in Petroleum Geoscience from the Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP School) in Paris, Francis. 

As a young man, he was actively involved in student activism as a student leader in the great Namdi Azikiwe Hall of the University of Ibadan.

He has worked for almost twenty years in the oil and gas sector and he's currently a Senior Geologist with a multi-national company. He has written many articles and given many talks in the field of petroleum exploration in Nigeria. 

Being a philanthropist, he has been a cheerful giver since his childhood, but to meet the needs of the  less privileged in his immediate community, he formed a Non Government Organization named Omotayo-Toyo Foundation, which was unveiled in 2019 after completing it's first official giveback to the society by empowering over 200 youths in vocational skills which includes Tailoring, Makeup artistry, Computer education, among others.

Since then the organisation has been involved in award of sports and educational scholarships as well as different community projects and charity giving in  his immediate Ese Odo and Ilaje communities.

Having discovered that there are raw hidden sports talents at the grassroots, he organised Omotayo-Toyo Foundation Under 18 Football Tournament for clubs within Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency where lots of raw talents were scouted with the partnership of Tri Scout Limited, Lagos. Some of the scouted talents are currently progressing with Quattromen FC, Lagos which projects players to international scouts and licensed agents. 

The second edition of the tournament is currently ongoing in the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency with plans of extending the tournament to all Federal Constituencies within Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State. Currently, Mobolaji Johnson Omotayo-Toyo owns Omotayo-Toyo Football Academy (Igbobini), Omotayo-Toyo Football Club (Igbobini) and is Chairman Quattromen Football Club (Lagos).

All works are also in progress in collaboration with the Ondo State Sport Council, Okitipupa Zone in organizing the maiden Omotayo-Toyo Foundation Athletics Competition for Secondary Schools within Okitipupa Zone of the Sport Council (Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese Odo LGAs).

As a politician, he had been a passive politician in his Lekki, Lagos area for many years. He started his active political involvement in 2019 when he joined the All Progressive Congress in his political ward, Igbobini Apoi Ward 5. 

He was massively involved in the campaign for the re-election of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN and his Deputy Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as a member of the official Campaign Committee. He formed a grassroots movement, Progressive Coastal Drive with thousands of members across the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency and the movement mobilised huge support in every units and wards of the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency as well as in the Southern Senatorial District in general.
