Nysc@48: Oyo State coordinator urges Corps members to be united

As the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) celebrates its 48 years of establishment nationwide, the Oyo State  Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe,  on Saturday, admonished corps members to eschew from secret plots capable of dividing the existing unity of the country. 

She made this call while declaring the camp carnival open at the orientation camp in Iseyin, Ibadan. 

She noted that the aims and objectives of establishing NYSC is to ensure cohesion across the length and breadth of Nigeria. 

"Nysc is a household name, which remain the only option for unity, progress, peace love, culture in diversity"

"She emphasize that National Youth Service Corps cannot be destroyed, adding that every state of the Federation is represented by what Nysc is aimed at

She however urged the youths to shun thuggery, social decadence, restivenes and lure of lucre. 

"You are a child that God has blessed and God has a light in your hands, so, ignore anyone turning you against another tribe", she said. 

Earlier, the representatives from different platoons described National Youth Service Corps as a catalyst to all round development of Nigeria 


"Nysc is that amazing scheme with structured wonderments towards the development of the economy and unarguably an antidote to the perceived decadence on the economy"

"The desire to see our country flourish in peace, harmony and prosperity wouldn't come as a miracle unless it's components is restructured and developed, exactly the reason behind NYSC's giant strides"

"The scheme furthered from individuality to organizational development where each corpers will have to contribute their skilled manpower in various departments and capacities towards the development of organizations, schools and government parastatals. 


"Projects and programmes initiated, developed or executed by Corps Members has resulted in socioeconomic development in various communities through establishment of schools, building of libraries, construction of water projects, public toilets, power sources, etc. 

"Sensitizations, campaigns and public enlightenments were undertaken in various communities on issues like corruption, road safety, health safety, environmental hazards, management techniques, entrepreneurial skills, etc. 

"The youth Corps Members have with the trainings, seminars and workshops they had in and outside camp, been equipped with the mental and academic capacity to sensitize, inform, educate and execute projects and programmes to other Nigerians in their community of service." They unanimously said. 

The carnival/cultural ceremony was graced by various exhibitions from different platoon showcasing thier culture respectively which platoon number 6 ( HAUSA) won the first position seconded by platoon 5 ( BENUE) while platoon 10 ( TIV) with the third position
