The State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has charged the corps members to be an advocate of change and development in their host communities.
Mrs Ogbuogebe made this call during the official closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch A stream 2 Orientation exercise.
She implored the corps members to focus on promoting the unity of Nigeria as the Scheme was established primarily to foster National cohesion and Integration.
The State Coordinator advised the corps members to pay attention to the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development ( SAED), programme stressing that it is the only antidote to the high rate of unemployment among Youths as it ensures that Corps Members become self reliant, job creators rather than job seekers.
Mrs Ogbuogebe equally encouraged the corps members to continue with the spirit of discipline and responsiveness that they exhibited during the Orientation course throughout their service year.
She also enjoined the corps members to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities, emphasizing the need to leave an indelible mark in their host communities through the Community Development Service.
The SC tasked the corps members to be diligent in their duties so as to reciprocate the kind gesture of His Excellency the Governor of Oyo State Engr Seyi Makinde who has just increased the allowance of Corps Members from #5000 to 15,000 naira.
The State Coordinator also warned the corps members against unauthorized journey, indecent dressing and indulging in sharp practices.
Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe while appreciating the camp officials for their time and sacrifice during the three weeks Orientation exercise stated that selfless service attracts great reward.
