OYO: CBN, BOI, SON SENSITISE CORPS MEMBERS ON THEIR OPERATIONS

The National Youth Service Corps in collaboration with funding Institutions, sensitized the 2021 Batch B stream 2 corps members on their operations during the SAED lecture series at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.

The essence of the lecture as stated by the financial institutions was to prepare the corps members adequately for self employment during and after their service year.

Mr Sadiq Ajayi , from the Central Bank of Nigeria, said the funding is established with the aim of reducing dependence and search for white collar jobs after their service year.

He lauded the NYSC Scheme for creating the platform through Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, 

He added that every serving corps member in each batch is eligible to soft loans with Certificate of National Service as the only collateral.

He however hinted that before any loan can be granted corps members must have a  written business plan with direction and sustainability strategies.

Equally, Mrs Ogunmefun Foluke , from the Bank of Industry urged the corps members to make good use of the golden opportunity NYSC Scheme has provided through Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme. 

She informed them that the Bank of Industry has created a training session for serving corps members in the following areas;how to write a business plan, how to become an entrepreneur, how to generate business ideas and other key ingredients for growing businesses.

Mrs Folake also disclosed that the loan available to corps members is interest free and they can access up to 3million naira.

Mr Adelusi Victor, from the Standard Organization of Nigeria, said he was happy that NYSC's presence can be felt in all the nooks and crannies of the country and SON collaboration with NYSC would afford corps members the opportunity to create more awareness to the public on its operations. 

He listed their activities which include, Certification of industrial products, Assistant in the production of quality goods and dissemination of information relating to standards.

He tasked the corps members to help in the sensitization of the populace in their various places of primary assignment, stating that it would assist SON in realizing its objectives especially in the reduction of the production of fake and substandard goods .
