Eighty-Eight students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State has graduated with a first-class division at the 5th and 6th convocation ceremony of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abayomi Fasina made this known during his address at the convocation ceremony on Sunday
Prof. Fasina while analyzing the graduating list of 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 session said, the University has produced a total number of 2, 599 students across the faculties.
"There are 35 graduands receiving postgraduate degrees, 3 of whom are in the PhD category, the first supervised by the Vice Chancellor.

In the analysis of the graduating list of 2018/2019 and 2019/2020: the university produced 88 first class students, 857 second class upper students, 1344 bagged second class lower pass, 309 had third class, while 1 was in the Pass category.
On the honourary awards, Engr. Dr. Nuru Yakubu and Mrs. Victoria A. Samson were conferred on Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) and Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) of Federal University Oye-Ekiti, respectively.
In his address, Prof. Abayomi Fasina highlighted the successes of the university under his administration for the past one year; Peace and stability of the University, staff and students welfare, infrastructural development, capacity development, research grants and conference support, establishment of new programmes, directorates and units, new institutes, excellence exercises, University security, ICT development and Awards.
"Addressing the roots of instability and protests in the University has also been a top priority since I assumed office. We now prioritise issues of participatory and inclusive governance, with regular consultations and interactions with critical stakeholders in the University, including management team, deans, Heads of department, staff and Students' union leaders, as well as host communities. The welfare concerns of staff and students which were severely debased in the past years, have been fully restored.
"It may interest you all to know that we are one of the very few universities that did not cancel any academic session as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic" he noted about the academic calendar.
Fasina added that "We have decided to turn Inaugural lectures into a regular event in the University so as to promote a culture of academic excellence and advancement of knowledge
"Our genuine aspiration is to transform FUOYE into a cynosure, an institution worthy in all ramifications to be called a University". He said
He went on to beseech the graduands to celebrate with the principle of Golden Mean and always endeavor to positively project the image of the University.
