Precision Online Newspaper celebrates 5 yrs in Grand style

It was an event filled with pomp and pageantry as Precision Online Newspapers celebrate its 5 year anniversary with a Public lecture and Award presentation on Sunday.  

The epoch making event which was held at Adesuper Hotel, Akure was graced by members of the Press, Lecturers and some prominent people in the society. 

The publisher, Precision Online Newspapers, Mr. Olusegun Hakeem Adebumiti while recounting the 5 years journey said though the journey has been rough but has been worthwhile and that those singled out for honour were distinguished personalities that have made remarkable contribution to humanity.

In his lecture titled: “Tottering on the brink of collapse: Is Restructuring the way out of Nigeria’s extant Crises”, Prof. Femi Mimiko, former Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko stressed the scientific need for restructuring saying,  it was quite unfortunate that life has lost its value in Nigeria as some parts are now out of the hands of government officials.

"Looking at the economic, security and educational dimensions among others to the Nigerian challenge, Prof. Mimiko said certain things needed to be done differently after now which include proper leadership recruitment, review of political structures that has made it impossible for those with genuine interest not to attain power saying the Nigerian state as presently constituted lacks the capability to deliver on set goals among other recommendations.

Speaking Earlier , the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Bode Ayorinde while congratulating Adebumiti (the precision Publisher) for deeming it fit to establish an online newspaper, stated that the online medium has one way or the other benefitted the public 

"We are in the Era of Digital now, and Precision has proved himself worthy in dissemination of news, information which are authentic and not biased 

Speaking about the lecture, Ayorinde noted that agitations to persuade the leaders in Nigeria to restructure will continue, adding that, it was high time the nation reduced the weight at the centre and allow for true federalism where state are better empowered to function and contribute their quota to the development of the country.

One of awardee, Hon. Babatunde Faro, an aspirant vying for Akure South/North Federal Constituency in the coming bye election while congratulating the organizers on the feats it has accomplished over the last 5 years, said the award will spur him to do more just as he dedicated it to Ondo State Youths.

He however expressed gratitude for the honour, saying that, with such an award coming from a reputable online media platform, it further goes to show that there is future for young people who wish to make an impact in governance and in the political space of the nation.


Highlight of the event includes presentation of awards to prominent personalities among which are Hon. Faro HRM, Oba David Olajide, the Iresi of Osi, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander, Ondo State Amotekun Corps and Alhaja Ceenat Titilayomi Anifowoshe, a retired principal, Akure Muslim College.
