The Mass communication Alumni of Osun State Polytechnic iree has stressed that Alumni associations are very key players in nation-building and strong positive influence on the welfare of its member and their Alma Mater among other key stakeholders.
MAOS also called on its members to get fully involved in political activities in Nigeria as the country prepares for the 2023 general elections.
The National president of the association, Femi Salawu made this known in his maiden official address to members of the association and the general public.
He disclosed, “I want to quickly reiterate the importance of Alumni associations as a key piece of the puzzle to help solve the riddle of how to make Nigeria work. Nigeria will continue to remain the same until institutions like ours is run effectively to positively impact its members and stakeholder community. This is a fundamental statement.”
While tasking its members on political participation, MAOS Leader said, “Looking at the bigger picture, Nigeria now shifts into a pre-election year and I dare say that MAOS parades the right calibre of people with leadership skills and empathy to help deliver the dividends of good governance. We challenge MAOS members to #getinvolved by joining political parties.”
MAOS therefore charged members to get involved by joining political parties ahead of the general elections.
“We equally commend the league of MAOS members currently serving as political appointees and urge them to fully leverage their positions to the fullest as worthy ambassadors of MAOS. We passionately request our political appointee members to sell MAOS and put the association in front of their principals. The National Executive Council would be knocking on your doors to follow-up on this appeal,” he said.
The newly inaugurated executive promised to add more value to the institution as it begins it's tenure. MAOS leader also said, "This New Year and under this administration, permit me to state without equivocation our strong commitment to make meaningful contribution to our Alma mata, Mass Communication Department, Osun State Polytechnic.”
MAOS therefore wishes members of the association, students of the department and the institution at large, other members of the polytechnic community and the general public a very fruitful 2022.
